About “Mikro Studio”

Mikro Studio is a KOINSEP (Social Cooperative Enterprise) that began with the vision of Nancy Avgery in 2014. Since then, it has grown into a vibrant space that hosts workshops and offers regular classes. I never feel alone there, as we’ve welcomed a large number of artists over the years — including Sofia Pintzou, Maria Mavridou, Marianna Makri, Georgia Paizi, Nina Skamnakis, Christiana-Kosiari Fasolaki, Iris Fousteri, Evie Souli, Olia Lazaridou, Alexandra Kazazou, Ria Higler, Marilena Petridou, Aliki Georgoulopoulou, Marigo Angelidou, Johannes Schmelzer-Ziringer, Ema Corine, Alexandros Farmakis, Maria Sanchez Alonso, Maria Vincentelli, and many more.

Every summer, the Mikro Studio opens its doors to artists and teachers from Greece and abroad for workshops and rehearsals. When autumn arrives and throughout the winter season, we host activities led by teachers who have made Aegina their home. Nicoleta Xenariou, Aliki Georgoulopoulou, Iannis Psallidakos, Aris Pavlos, & Nancy Avgery are now the core team of the studio. Together, we offer workshops in improvisation, contemporary dance, tai chi, butoh, voice work, stretching, and Pilates — all warmly received by both Aegina’s local community and its visitors.

In 2024, Mikro Studio launched Art Shelter, a summer gathering of the arts that brought together artists from Aegina, Athens, and beyond, offering performances, workshops, and creative encounters.

In addition to our own classes, the studio hosts seminars in dance, movement research, improvisation, yoga, the Alexander Technique, contact improvisation, dance therapy, jam sessions, physical theater, acting, and more. We also present performances, exhibitions, and film screenings.

This space is a living organism that has been active for nearly ten years. It has genuinely embraced the local community and grown into a center of art, creativity, and expression. With consistency, care, and perseverance, it has left a meaningful mark on this place.

From the very beginning, the vision was clear:
to create a space where people can evolve, flourish, and grow.

Mikro Studio is a spacious, fully equipped venue designed to accommodate a wide range of artistic and movement practices. The main studio spans 70 square meters and features professional linoleum dance flooring and a large mirror, making it ideal for dance, theater, and performance rehearsals. The floor's surface supports both dynamic movement and barefoot practices, offering safety and ease for diverse disciplines.

The studio is outfitted with essential equipment such as yoga mats, blocks, resistance bands, and more—providing comfort and versatility for bodywork, fitness, and somatic sessions. It also includes air conditioning for climate control, as well as an overhead lighting system tailored for performances and presentations.

Whether for workshops, rehearsals, or intimate showings, Mikro Studio offers a well-rounded, functional environment to support creative exploration.
